Action Aid is a global movement of people working together to further human rights for all and defeat poverty. We believe everyone has the power within them to create change for themselves, their families and communities. ActionAid is a catalyst for that change.  ActionAid works in over 45 countries with over 15 million people worldwide. We have a ‘bottom up approach to decision-making, and uniquely, our head office is located in Africa. We have hubs in Asia, The Americas and Europe too.  ActionAid Liberia started in 1997 in Liberia as a cross-border initiative managed by ActionAid Sierra Leone. The program moved from humanitarian assistance in internally displaced people’s camps to rights-based development programmes focusing on women’s rights, human security, education and HIV& AIDS. ActionAid Liberia has been operating as a full country programme since 2007.  Actionaid Liberia is currently implementing its Country Strategy Plan 2013-2017 focusing on three key programme areas namely women's and girls’ rights; youth and urban poverty; and governance.
