The Foundation for Community Initiatives (FCI) was founded in 2004 as a community based organization in Grand Bassa County, Liberia, by a group of trained development workers and human rights activists trained by Development Education Network - Liberia (DEN-L). The Development Education Network-Liberia (DEN-L) runs the “Development Education Leadership Teams in Actions” (DELTA) Training, which provides leadership, development and advocacy training for NGOs in Liberia.  FCI was founded to institutionalize women in leadership position at all levels and showcase women’s ingenuity in building and leading an indigenous women institution that is focused on Women Empowerment, Peace Building, Conflict Resolution and Leadership and Governance Issues, especially in the Natural Resource Management (NRM) Sector.  FCI currently operates in six Counties namely: Sinoe, Rivercess, Grand Bassa, Lofa, Gbarpolu and Grand Gedeh Counties. Our grassroots and community involvement strategy as well as huge stakeholder’s collaboration give us the unmatched leverage to successful implement projects that are beneficial to the communities in which we operate.
