Green Advocates of Liberia

Green Advocates of Liberia is a non-profit organization interested in protecting the environment by campaigning for stronger legislation and monitoring the implementation of existing regulation in Liberia. Green Advocates is a founding member of the Liberian Publish-What-You-Pay Coalition, Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative and the Kimberley Process Civil Society Coalition. It works with a wide range of national and international civil society organizations and individual activists to promote public disclosure of financial transactions in the extractive industries and forestry sectors. Among other things, Green Advocates was involved in drafting the 2006 National Reform Forestry Law and runs a number of programs that provide legal aid to individuals and groups affected by environmental and human rights violations. Since the organization was founded in 1997 its staff have worked tirelessly to promote ecological awareness and human rights, helping to build a sustainable future for Liberia.
