MARWOPNET - Liberia
MARWOPNET-Liberia is a sub-regional women peace building and human rights networks, comprises of four member states of the Mano River Union Countries, Liberia, La Cote d’Ivoire, Sierra Leone and Guinea. It is a non for profit organization. It mandates is to promote security, peace and equal participation of women, men, girls and boys in the sub-region. MARWOPNET advocates on peace building and promoting peaceful co-existence at country levels providing skilled training and awareness on conflict resolution, reconciliation, monitoring of peace and security, elections observation, information on access to justice, women’s rights, advocacy and the rules of law in the MRU sub-region.
MARWOPNET currently has eighteen years of existing experience in peace-building and advocacy, including the promotion of rural community’s capacities for building peace at the community level by working with chiefs to mediate and settle domestic disputes of violence, ensuring gender integration in security sectors with specific emphasis on women’s understanding of the security sector and increasing their ability to utilize the pathway to justice. In 9 counties- Lofa, Nimba, Grand Gedeh, Grand Cape Mount, Bong, Montserrado, Mar/gibi and River Gee in Liberia.
