Volunteers United for Development (VUD)
Lawalazu Road, Voinjama, Voinjama District, Lofa County. Since after the fourteen years LIBERIAN civil war, Vahun District remain undeveloped and inaccessible due to the bad roads condition; hence government and international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) find it difficult to carry on any development activities pertinent to the improvement of the District and its surroundings. Since 2005, group of concern citizens voluntarily united themselves for undertaking community development initiative projects. In 2009, Volunteers United for Development (VUD) was established as a Community Base Organization CBO for making available development packages / Community Facilitators (CF) to partner with Government Agencies as to realize development through community empowerment programs limited to Vahun District. VUD as an organization targets to foster unity in rural communities in order to merge peace and sustainable development through community development projects, trainings and livelihood activities regardless of the tribe, gender, religion, nationality and political affiliation with a focal point to diminish if not eradicate violence and any form of discrimination against Children, women/girls and disables. VUD strives to advance development programs addressing: SGBV/Human rights, reproductive health services, Education, general agriculture/food security as well as sanitary promotion.
